Guide for Coaches

For the coach (or GM) holding the PIN: grading standards, check-ins, systems and plays, film, scouting.

Chel only Bench Boss is exclusively for Chel (EA NHL's EASHL club mode, 6s and 3s) at this time. Versus and other modes may come later.

Getting started

Where Open the app link from your club

  1. Claim the club first (see Claiming your club). The coach is the one who claims and pays.
  2. Set your coach PIN when asked. The PIN unlocks every coach-only screen and every save.
  3. Never share the PIN in chat. Anyone with it can change the grading.
Claiming your club

Where Website → Claim

  1. After the claim, you are the coach. Keep your PIN private; it is what makes you the coach in the app.
  2. During the 7-day window, keep the roster in the loop so nobody is surprised by a challenge.
Home

Where Bottom bar → Home

  1. Use Home after a session for a 30-second read of the night before you open Coach.
  2. Tap any position on Who Skated to jump straight into that player's grades.
Reading your grades

Where Home, Coach, Stats → tap a player

  1. The standards come from your club's grading version. Change them in the grading editor (see Grading editor).
  2. Defensemen can earn a shutout bonus. It only adds; it never takes a grade down.
Coach tab

Where Bottom bar → Coach

  1. Unlock with your PIN to see the System card: pick Zone time, Rush or One-timer.
  2. Changing the system changes the coaching wording and the plays. It never moves a grade.
  3. Use “Work on per player” to set each guy's focus before the next session.
Stats

Where Bottom bar → Stats

  1. Players need 3 games to appear in Leaders, so small samples don't skew the table.
  2. Team chips: Last 10, Goals for / gm, Goals against / gm, Goal diff / gm (French: 10 derniers, Buts pour / match, Buts contre / match, Diff. de buts / match). Window tabs Last game / night / All become Dernière partie / Ce soir·Hier soir / Toutes.
Check-ins

Where Who's playing?

  1. Short a body? Tap Nudge the boys on the check-in sheet. It pings only the players who haven't answered, and only once every 30 minutes, so nobody gets spammed.
  2. Check Who's online before the first game, then drop the puck.
  3. Grades use your grading standards, so tune the editor and the grades follow.
Post-game grades & Check EA now

Where Home → “Data from EA · updated” line

  1. Post-game grades use your club's current grading version, same as always. The faster arrival never changes a letter.
  2. Between games, a 30-second look at Home tells you who's carrying the night before the next puck drop.
Alerts

Where Gear → Settings → Alerts

  1. Get the room to turn on Check-ins and Game results. That's how check-ins fill fast and the boys see their grades right after the game.
Team Chat

Where Chat button (top bar)

  1. Post film clips straight into chat when the whole team should see a moment.
Film

Where Bottom bar → Film

  1. Goal clips are cut automatically from the stream. Nothing to mark by hand.
  2. Hand-marking tools are only on in the Texans beta club for now.
Scout

Where Bottom bar → Scout

  1. Use Us vs them (strength of schedule, opponents' win rate, record vs stronger clubs) to set the game plan.
Scout · Schedule (strength of schedule)

Where Scout → Schedule

  1. Strength of schedule lives only on Scout. It never changes a player's grade.
  2. SOS window tabs: Season 1, All on file, Last 10, 3 nights — French Saison 1, Tout au dossier, 10 derniers, 3 soirées.
Scout · Farm / Prospects

Where Scout → Farm / Prospects

  1. Star a prospect to keep an eye on him. Use the call-up meter and his card to decide who moves up.
Grading editor

Where Gear → Settings → Grading → Edit grading (PIN)

  1. Open the gear, then Settings → Grading → Edit grading, and enter your PIN.
  2. Pick Forward or Defense, then a dimension. Turn stats On or Off and set each one's standard and weight (points, interceptions, pass % and more).
  3. Preview how last night would have graded before you save.
  4. Save as a new version with your PIN. Any old version can be restored in one tap.
Profile, Settings & extras

Where Profile · gear · Club

  1. Coach-only tools (tryouts, coach board) live behind Settings with your PIN.
Account & Career

Where Website → Sign up / Log in

  1. Manage the Club plan (billing, cancel, refunds) from your account on the website.
  2. Cancelling keeps the plan on until the end of the paid period. After that, new games stop being saved and your club's history is held 45 days. We email you about 7 days before it's deleted; re-subscribe before day 45 to keep everything.
  3. A failed payment gives you 7 days to fix the card before the plan ends and the 45 days start.
